ILS Chair’s News & Notes
Dear ILS Members,
In Italian, Friday is “Venerdi”; in Swahili, “Ijumaa”; in Russian, “ Пятница” in ILS speak, “Gazette”.
In this issue, we remind ILS Members to enjoy the ABA Section of International Law’s annual virtual meeting, April 14-16. The ILS is sponsoring a panel on April 14 for the virtual annual meeting entitled “Keeping a Seat for Gender Diversity at the International Law Table”, moderated by ILS Past Chair Clarissa Rodriguez of ILS Hemispheric Sponsor Reich Rodriguez and including as panelists ILS Treasurer Jackie Villalba of ILS Global Sponsor HarperMeyer; ILS Executive Council member Cristina Vicens of ILS Hemispheric Sponsor Sequor Law; and ILS Executive Council Member Neha Dagley of RiveroMestre. We are looking forward to this panel, very much. See below for registration info.
Remember to calendar for April 20 at 1pm the next installment of the entertaining ILS Lunch and Learn, featuring host ILS Past Chair Clarissa Rodriguez and this month’s guest Richard Lorenzo, Regional Managing Partner of ILS Hemispheric Sponsor Hogan Lovells. Learn about Richard’s journey through an international litigation and arbitration career. The ILS thanks host Fiduciary Trust International for use of their Zoom platform. RSVP at Matthew.Valdez@ftci.com
On April 22nd, the ILS is presenting the virtual webinar “PPE Transactions in a Pandemic: Achieving Compliance and Identifying Fraud” featuring an all-star panel discussing the multi-billion dollar market in Personal Protection Equipment and how to identify and prevent fraud, and ensure compliance for your clients. The panel will feature ILS Past-Chair Peter Quinter and Tucker Thoni of GrayRobinson; ILS Chair-Elect Jim Meyer of ILS Global Sponsor HarperMeyer; Dan Harris, Managing Partner of HarrisBricken and industry professionals Colette Durst, inside counsel for 3M; and Dan Pak, VP of supply chain management of Hartford Healthcare. Don’t miss it if you want to protect your clients in this huge market to supply customers with products to protect against Covid-19 exposure. See registration info below.
The ILS has joined as a Community Supporter for the upcoming panel entitled “Combating Hate, Racism, and Xenophobia Against Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders” on April 28th. The ILS supports the Asian-American community against those who eschew tolerance, peace and the rule of law.
Keep sending your members news for publication in our Gazette. You will find ILS members’ news below, such as Jennifer Diaz’s webinar on April 21 on anti-dumping duties. Your Gazette will let ILS members know what you are up to; we will also publish short articles and podcasts (like ILS Regional Sponsor ST&R’s podcast), enhancing the value of the ILS to its members.
If you are reading this, and your firm is in international practice, I encourage you to consider becoming a 2021 sponsor of the ILS. 2021 rates are discounted, just for this year, and provide free advertising opportunities, ILS Lunch and Learn opportunities and annual meeting luncheon tickets. Contact ILS Treasurer Jackie Villalba at email@example.com

Have a great weekend!
